Year 5 Learning Synopsis – Term 5
This term, Year 5 students will continue to explore a rich and engaging curriculum that supports their academic progress, creativity, and personal development.
Mathematics will reinforce core skills through a focus on fractions, time, measurement, and the four operations. Pupils will also work on identifying and addressing any gaps in understanding to build confidence and fluency.
English lessons will be inspired by The Island by Armin Greder. Pupils will develop persuasive writing skills through the creation of a balanced argument, as well as reimagining the story by composing an alternative ending.
Religious Education (RE) will explore the season of Easter and the Sacraments, with a particular focus on the Triduum and the significance of baptismal promises in the life of the Church.
History will transport students back to Tudor times, investigating what life was like during this fascinating period of change and discovery.
Science will delve into the properties of materials through the topic of mixtures and separation, encouraging pupils to develop their investigative skills through practical experiments.
Physical Education (PE) will focus on developing coordination, agility, and teamwork through tennis.
Art lessons will encourage creativity and self-expression as students create self-portraits using a variety of mixed media techniques.
This term promises exciting opportunities for learning, reflection, and creativity across the curriculum, nurturing curiosity and a love of learning in every child.
