Maths:
This term, the children have been diving into the world of fractions, confidently adding and subtracting those with the same denominator. They've mastered using column methods for addition and subtraction and tackled multiplication through the grid method. They've also explored division using repeated subtraction, building their fluency and problem-solving skills.
Writing:
In Writing, the children have loved writing their own imaginative versions of The Egyptian Cinderella, using paragraphs to structure their stories and adding detail with prepositions and the present perfect tense. They've also become budding researchers, using Chromebooks to find fascinating facts and write engaging non-chronological reports about a country of their choice.
Reading:
We have begun exploring the lively and mysterious world of Krindlekrax. The children have been developing key reading skills by answering a range of inference, prediction, retrieval, summarising, and sequencing questions. They’ve also been delving deeper into the characters and their relationships, discussing how they interact and change throughout the story.
History:
Our exciting history topic on Ancient Egypt has taken the children back in time to explore the wonders of this ancient civilisation. They've been fascinated by the Rosetta Stone, cracked simple hieroglyphic codes, and discovered the incredible lives of Egypt’s kings and queens.
Art:
Art lessons this term have been bursting with creativity! Inspired by Egyptian culture, the children have designed their own symbolic artwork, using traditional Egyptian symbols to tell a story—beautifully presented on handmade papyrus-style paper for an authentic finish.
R.E:
In R.E, we have been exploring our To Ends of the Earth topic. The children reflected on Jesus’ Ascension and imagined how the disciples might have felt as they prepared to carry his message forward. They learned about the story of Pentecost and thought deeply about how we can live today in the way Jesus taught his disciples—showing love, kindness, and courage in our everyday lives.
Science:
In Science, the children have been investigating light and shadows. They've explored a range of light sources and their importance in everyday life. They've also learned why shadows are formed and carried out investigations to find out how shadows change throughout the day, developing their scientific questioning and observation skills.
P.E.
In P.E., the children have been learning tennis. They've practised a variety of key skills including hand-eye coordination, racket control, forehand and backhand strokes, as well as basic rallying techniques.
