Term 4 Learning

We have another exciting and busy term ahead in Year 2!

In writing, we will be exploring two high-quality texts: The Bear and the Piano and The Proudest Blue. Through these books, the children will develop their understanding of key grammar skills, including using conjunctions such as because, expanded noun phrases, and prepositions.

Our final outcomes for the term will be a detailed story retell and a reflective diary entry, where pupils will apply their new writing skills independently.

We will begin the term by securing our understanding of place value. This will be followed by addition and subtraction, where children will develop fluency and problem-solving strategies. Later in the term, we will explore 2D shapes, focusing on identifying properties and making comparisons between different shapes.

In Science, we will be learning about life cycles, including those of animals and humans. Children will explore the different stages of growth and how living things change over time.

In Geography, we will develop our map-reading skills by using atlases and maps to locate and name the world’s oceans.

In RE, we will be learning about Lent and discussing how Christians prepare for Easter.

We are looking forward to a term full of curiosity, creativity and progress.
