Term 6 Learning
Welcome to our final term in Year 2. We have lots of exciting learning planned as we continue to build curiosity, creativity and compassion across the curriculum. Below is an overview of what we will be learning this term.
This term our topic is Dialogue & Encounter. The children will learn about different beliefs, faiths and how people can live together with respect, kindness and understanding.
Our English learning will be based around the following texts:
-
The Lighthouse Keeper’s Lunch – writing diary entries from the perspective of the lighthouse keeper.
-
Traction Man – writing instructions about how to make a robot.
The children will continue developing their handwriting, spelling, punctuation and sentence writing skills throughout the term.
This term we will be learning about fractions and consolidating the year 2 key objectives.
In Science, our topic is Making Connections. Children will revisit and apply scientific knowledge from across the year through investigations, discussions and practical activities.
This term, children will be learning about coasts through our topic: What is it like to live near the coast? The children will explore physical and human features of coastal areas, compare coastal locations to where we live and learn about how people use and protect coastal environments.
Thank you for your continued support throughout the year. We are very proud of all the children and look forward to a wonderful final term together.
