The two main subjects in this curriculum section are History and Geography. Here you will find our intent and rational behind these subjects as well as our implementation, which is currently under review.
At Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic School, we know that ‘deep in God’s heart there is a dream for each of us.’ We are called to live, love and learn as Jesus taught us in order to fulfil our potential as lifelong learners and responsible world citizens.
Therefore, in Geography, we aim to deliver an enquiry based curriculum to spark the children’s interest and encourage their curiosity in the world around them and their place in it. We will teach key concepts, knowledge and geographical skills and will build on these in a spiral curriculum, which will enable children to become confident and independent geographers. They will be encouraged to discuss their own ideas and conduct their own research in projects and fieldwork. This investigatory approach will equip them with transferrable skills to our RE Curriculum, specifically Stewardship; inspiring a love of the world and encourage a sense of citizenship and duty for it’s care.
